Hungry people search Google and Maps, look at your photos, skim your reviews, and check your menu and hours. If your food photos are weak or your menu is a hard-to-read PDF, they pick somewhere else.
The parts of the playbook that are specific to your trade, not every local business.
The biggest reservation days of the year are the same everywhere: Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, graduation weekend, and the December party stretch. Diners plan those ahead, so your site and Google profile need to show holiday hours and how to book before the week arrives. Nothing earns an angry one-star review faster than a family driving to a restaurant that Google said was open. Update holiday hours every single holiday, even the small ones. Then use January, the slowest month in the business, for the specials and events you post everywhere, because a Tuesday special sells in the slow season, not the rush.
Diners do not read "great food, great service" reviews. They read the one that says "get the brisket tacos" and then they come in and order the brisket tacos. Photos in reviews work even harder; a real plate shot from a customer outsells anything a designer makes. So make the ask at the happy moment: when a table raves, the server says thank you and points at the QR card on the receipt. Ask them to name what they ate. And answer every review, especially the rough ones, because the next hundred diners read your reply as a preview of how you treat customers.
