New patients choose a dentist off Google. They read your reviews, look at your office, and check whether they can book without a phone call. Reviews and easy scheduling decide who gets the new-patient slot.
The parts of the playbook that are specific to your trade, not every local business.
Dental demand has a calendar most practices ignore: insurance benefits expire December 31, so November and December fill with patients trying to use them; late summer brings the back-to-school checkup rush; and January delivers the resolution crowd finally booking the visit they postponed. The end-of-year window is the one to work hardest. A simple "your benefits expire soon" reminder to existing patients in October fills the fall calendar, and a page saying you can fit benefits-deadline appointments catches the searchers. Plan the rushes a season ahead and the front desk stops living in feast or famine.
A large share of new patients are anxious, embarrassed about how long it has been, or both, and they read reviews looking for one message: it will be okay here. The reviews that fill new-patient slots say "gentle," "did not lecture me," "explained everything before doing it," and, crucially, mention the front desk and billing being painless. Ask at checkout after a good visit, with a text link sent before the patient reaches the parking lot. A steady few each month from genuinely happy patients will do more for your new-patient number than any promotion you run.
